CURIUM, THE WINE VILLAGE OF OMODOS AND LIMASSOL
The magnificent archaeological site of Curium (also known as Kourion) is one of the most important sites of antiquity on the island of Cyprus. It’s also the first place we visit on our three-stop, full-day tour.
Founded by the Greeks in the 4th century BC, the ancient city-kingdom of Curium showcases a number of masterpieces you do not want to miss. Explore the restored Greco-Roman amphitheater with mosaics dating back to the 5th century AD and the House of Efstolios with its stunning views over the valley of Kouris.
We move on to the beautiful lush vineyards of Limassol and visit the picturesque village of Omodos. The charming mountain village is renowned for its wine production and hosts an annual wine festival during the month of August.
After lunch, we visit the heart of the community to see the Timios Stavros (Holy Cross) Monastery and its medieval wine press. The monastery is one of the oldest and most historic monasteries on the island.
