For many, the highlight of the classic Cairo tour is the opportunity to see Egypt’s iconic pyramids up close and personal. The only surviving structures from the ancient world continue to captivate researchers from the fields of engineering and stonemasonry as well as archaeology.
From the Giza plateau, we head to the bustling Tahrir Square in the center of Cairo. The scene that sparked the 1919 revolution is decorated with a statue of an earlier revolutionary, Omar Makram who led the resistance against Napoleon I.
